Redken Acidic Bonding Concentrate Review

Redken is launching its most acidic, bonding hair care system yet with new Redken Acidic Bonding Concentrate. The all-in-one formula delivers strength repair, intense conditioning, and colour fade protection. The product features a pre-shampoo treatment that strengthens strands and helps prevent further damage, while the shampoo and conditioner deliver 14x smoother*** and 2x stronger** results compared to non-conditioning products.

The sulfate-free shampoo is enriched with citric acid to strengthen strands and reduce breakage, while the conditioner features a nutrient-rich blend of plant-based acids to repair damaged strands and protect color-treated hair. The leave-in treatment and styling aid is also sulfate-free, making it a great option for clients with fine hair who want a more lightweight, conditioning treatment.

Redken says that the entire line is pH-balanced, specifically formulated to defend against the negative effects of hair coloring, heat styling tools, and even water (which has a pH of 7). The range brings hair’s pH back into a healthy range of 4.5-5.5 for healthier looking, softer feeling, and more manageable strands. It’s also Cradle To Cradle certified and has been repackaged with Braille on the label to make it more accessible to those with impaired vision.

As a bonus, the entire Redken Acidic Bonding Concentrate lineup is made with environmentally friendly ingredients and comes in recyclable packaging. It’s also free of parabens, phthalates, sulfates, and silicones, and its ingredients are cruelty-free.

The entire routine starts with the Intensive Pre-Treatment, which is applied to damp hair before shampooing and left on for 10 minutes. This fortifying treatment features a bonding complex to strengthen weakened bonds and improve strength and resilience, while the fortifying blend of amino acids helps prevent further damage and breakage.

After rinsing the Intensive Pre-Treatment, apply the sulfate-free shampoo and work into a lather. Rinse and follow with the conditioner, working into a lather again to ensure that all of the treatment is thoroughly absorbed. Leave on for 5-10 minutes before rinsing and completing the treatment with the leave-in treatment and styling aid, which helps protect against future damage and hydrate strands.

As a professional stylist, you can use this product as frequently as once a week to keep your clients’ hair in peak condition. If the hair is particularly damaged or dry, it’s recommended to use it more frequently. The Redken Acidic Bonding Concentrate line has been a favorite of celebrity hairstylists, too. Laini Reeves used the product on Emily Blunt’s hair for the 2021 Met Gala to “strengthen strands and protect her beautiful new color,” according to Redken.
